Amy and Clayton, Manor Farm Barn, Oxfordshire

Meeting Amy and helping her find her dream wedding dress was an absolute joy. Amy had a clear idea of she wanted and was keen to defy expectations, opting for a classic style that she accessorised to reflect her own personal style. Amy has kindly given us a peek inside her gorgeous wedding day with husband Clayton and shares the eccentric details they chose, along with her top tips to help you with your own wedding planning.

Amy and Clayton chose their local church to conduct their wedding ceremony with the latter part of their wedding being hosted by Manor Fram Barn, situated in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, nestled nicely between Bicester and Buckingham. The 16th century barn and historic country house wedding venue provided the perfect setting and was a nod to the couple’s gothic style.

The colour scheme was set around the Autumn season, reflecting their wedding taking place at the end of September, although the weather had other ideas, with a warm surge taking everyone by surprise. The couple chose burnt orange and reds for their wedding flowers with lots of lush green foliage. The couple purposely opted for a traditional church ceremony and stuck to a typical wedding breakfast, however in a break from tradition the couple wanted to inject their own interests and personality into their wedding reception decor. The table names were all named after the couples favourite video games and they scattered table book confetti from Amy’s favourite book, Dracula. The decor included lots of Halloween and gothic items such as plush pumpkins and black rose petals which decorated the tables. A Pokemon cake topper adorned their elegant marble design wedding cake.

Inspired by Pinterest, Amy and Clayton incorporated more of their hobbies, with H and W Photography capturing unique and memorable moments. Amy enjoys archery and Clayton shoots for a hobby and so they decided to bring some equipment along to make for some pretty fabulous photo’s.

When it came to choosing her wedding dress Amy eventually opted for a traditional ivory dress which she styled with some less conventional accessories. Amy initially found her dress search frustrating finding that some boutiques didn’t always listen to her preferences and suggested dresses that just didn’t suit her. Feeling disheartened Amy bought her Mother in law with her to Love & Loved for a valued second opinion. When she tried on “the” dress, she knew she felt special. Like a magpie her Mother in Law was drawn to our Luna hair vine by The Bobby Pin and suggested Amy transform it into a belt to add a small detail to her simple and elegant wedding dress. We worked with Amy and our seamstress to secure the now belt to her dress. Amy loved the open back detail of her wedding dress and was reluctant to cover it with a veil. We decided to style her dress with our luxurious drape cape by Tulle & Flo ensuring that she got the look of a veil but its delicate drape meant the back of the dress was not covered. We also added some sparkle elements to the cape at Amy’s request. Nothing was too much trouble, we enjoyed every moment of customising Amy’s look to her wishes. Later in the day Amy changed into white DcMartins with red satin laces and had a customised jacket which we created in collaboration with Sewn by Me, our in house seamstress.

Amy’s elegant wedding dress with accessories that celebrated her unique style

Amy told us the favourite thing that she chose for her wedding and wouldn’t have been without was her wedding dress. It was the one thing that she chose without any influence from her husband and it was so hard to keep it a secret. On seeing Amy for the first time on their wedding day Clayton said Amy quite literally took his breath away.
