Steph and Matty, Huntsmill Farm, Buckinghamshire

The thrill of a bride’s wedding pictures hitting our inbox, or popping up on our insta feed is just one of the best feelings in the world. Providing a wedding dress to our brides is just one part of their wedding day. We love to see their plans come to life, with every detail executed perfectly, just as they had envisioned. Seeing the smiles on their faces is just so dreamy and gives us all the feels.

A Love and Loved bride is effortlessly stylish, not willing to suffer for fashion, in favour of a wedding dress that is comfortable to eat in and fun enough to dance all night in. They choose a wedding day look that reflects their personal style, that is unique, keeping it bridal but with a twist. We want our Love & Loved brides to inspire your wedding day. So we love nothing more than catching up with them after their wedding to get the low down on just how fabulous it was. We’ll capture their favourite moments, the details they wouldn’t have been without and also their top tips to help you with your own wedding planning.

We recently caught up with Love & Loved bride Steph after her relaxed, bohemian wedding in the Buckinghamshire countryside.

The coupe fell in love with Huntsmill Farm, set in rural Buckinghamshire, close to the Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire borders. The venue oozed a rustic, boho vibe, which was the perfect set up for their big day. They wanted their wedding to be informal, so having a beautiful converted barn on a farm with the grounds all to themselves to relax, eat and drink was perfect. As the venue was already so stunning, it meant they could keep to the relaxed vibe and not have to over decorate.

When it came to a colour scheme the couple chose white, greens and a touch of blush pink as their colour palette and used these throughout the day. The bridesmaids wore beautiful Rewritten dresses in a mix of sage and olive green, in different styles, whilst the groomsmen matched in green bow ties. The flowers were wild and bushy, with lots of eucalyptus, and blush and white roses. Milk churns filled with blooms were placed all around the venue while flowers adorned a triangular arch, and hung from a suspended ladder in the barn. Trestle tables were placed in a U shape for a sociable wedding breakfast, and were dressed in white table runners, eucalyptus and rose petal confetti, with a few candles to decorate. Each guest had an olive green napkin alongside their favour- a scratch card. Unfortunately, there were no big winners on the day!

The couple included carefully thought through touches, sprinkled throughout the day reflecting their personalities and interests. Steph and Matty love Harry Potter and wanted to incorporate some subtle touches. They used spells for the table names and ‘Lumos’ on the sparkler tags. They are both big foodies who love to eat and so their food choices were a little non-traditional. BBQ platters were served for the wedding breakfast provided by Portfolio, and pizza from a horse-cart was the food of choice in the evening, by The Dough Dept. A dessert table filled with all their favourite sweet treats accompanied a chocolate fudge wedding cake, and lavender and earl grey cupcakes from Beckles Cakes, biscoff and kinder bueno brownies from The Little Brownie company, and Homer doughnuts from SAY Doughnuts were also on offer. The biggest compliment about their day from the guests was the food- they were so stuffed by the end of it!

An abundance of Steph and Matty’s favourite sweet treats.

When it came to Steph’s dress, she stayed true to her vision and chose an outfit that was unique, with the same relaxed vibe as the overall theme of their day. Steph initially found wedding dress shopping quite overwhelming! She always knew she wanted to have an E&W Couture dress but finding ‘the one’ was not as straight forward as she thought. Pieces that she thought she would love, she felt different about once she tried them on. And dresses she didn’t think would suit her ended up being her favourites! So when Steph visited Love & Loved we made sure she got to try on a range of E&W styles and made her feel at ease throughout the whole process, even when she couldn’t decide between two styles. Steph didn’t realise her dress was ‘the one’ when she first tried it on, something Steph felt was a important to emphasise as this might happen and it’s okay! Her advise is, don’t panic if you have to try on the same dress a few times before realising it’s ‘the one’. We never rushed Steph into a decision and gave her time to think through all the options. Having said yes to the dress Steph absolutely loved visiting the bridal boutique for fittings with Mikayla, Sewn by M.E. Bridal, who altered her dress perfectly to fit like a glove.

We asked Steph what their best decision was and what they wouldn’t have wanted to miss at their wedding. The couple hired a photo booth from PicMe booths for the evening, something they sorted later on in the wedding planning process. They are so so glad they did. It was used for 5 hours straight and was never empty. All of their guests loved messing around with the props and taking silly photos and GIFS- it was a great ice breaker for guests who hadn’t met before and the couple loved seeing friends and family have fun together. The couple received a digital album of every picture taken and a guestbook too, which guests filled in with photo booth photos and handwritten messages. This was so fun to look through after the wedding, when the blues set in!

Having been there and done it Steph’s big tip for couples planning their wedding is to not wish away the time on the build-up to your wedding. Enjoy every moment of the planning, even if it feels like the big day is ages away. It will fly by and, weirdly enough, you will miss it afterwards!

With thanks to Cat Lane for the stunning photography.
