Jennifer and Chris, Dodmoor House, Northamshire

Love & Loved bride Jennifer shares the special moments of her wedding to Chris and shows you how to incorporate everything that is precious and personal in to your wedding day.

Jennifer and Chris married on a bright and crisp September day at the charming Dodmoor House, a romantic converted barn wedding venue in Northamtonshire. The wedding venue has all the space you need to include all of your family and friends while maintaining an intimate and relaxed environment. The exclusive use wedding venue boasts an immaculate ceremony and reception barn, a spacious courtyard for your guests to mingle, and they have a trusted wedding planning team on hand to help you plan your day.

Jennifer and Chris’s love of the countryside and long, leisurely walks lead them to choosing Dodmoor House. It’s country side location was the perfect setting to host their special day. They chose to make the day about themselves and their friends and family and so they kept their decor minimal utilising lush greenery and foliage to enhance the rustic feel of the venue. They kept their decor neutral with white and ivory flowers decorating the tables. Simple stems were displayed in vases, it was important to the couple that their guests could see each other across the tables, keeping the conversation flowing and the mood light.

Having taken a minimalist approach to the decor Jennifer and Chis created precious moments by incorporating their two greatest loves. After the ceremony their gorgeous and playful Springer Spaniel was their special guest greeting the bride and groom with an enthusiastic paw and keeping guests entertained as they relaxed in the courtyard. Jennifer said including their closest companion in their big day “was a detail that couldn’t have been more “us”.”

In another nod to capturing the sentiment Chris arrived at the venue in Jennifers beloved mini, Barney. Barney is a treasured 1976 Mini that Jennifer and her Dad spotted on Ebay, they bought the car and restored it together. He came from an old barn in Lincolnshire and was used by a lovely lady to drive lunch to her husband on his apple orchard. In true “old car” style Barney decided not to start the day before the wedding and so the couple were frantically fixing her with Chris determined Barney wouldn’t miss their big day.

Jennifer describes her wedding dress as one of the most unique aspects of her day. Jennifer chose the Isla gown with the Tillie slip dress by E & W Couture. Having been daunted by the thought of dress shopping, worried she wouldn’t fit in to any dresses, it was essential we made Jennifer feel comfortable and confident. After a good chat Jennifer was itching to try on some dresses. Jennifer enjoyed trying on a variety of wedding dresses but it was her mum who kept being drawn to the Isla dress. The Isla dress is one that really transforms off the hanger, the ditsy floral lace is both delicate and impactful and its extended train is a show stopper. The floral design was another nod to Jennifers love of flowers. We encouraged Jennifer to stay in the dresses as long as she needed to feel comfortable, and to ensure no self conscious feelings crept in. Once we shortlisted her favourites she tried her top gowns back on and Isla was the one. Jennifer says, “there were no tears like you see on TV but I knew Isla was the one as I felt like I’d found “me” in a dress. I did a little wiggle and my whole party were just beaming from ear to ear.” Jennifers best advise is, “you’ll know when you know”.

The couple were so grateful for the planning team at Dodmoor House. With so many elements to plan the team were a much needed resource to keep them on track and make recommendations. They made sure everything ran smoothly and took away any worries so that the couple could enjoy every aspect of their day.

So what would be Jennifer and Chris’s advise to other couples planning their wedding day? They said that finding supportive suppliers made everything so seamless and having the support and patience for the silly questions was such a blessing. Enjoy every second because the day flashes before your eyes. Also taking some time to be together as a couple is so precious. Those are some of my favourite memories of the day.
